Relevancy of Clausewitz' On War in the 21st Century

“War is an act of force to compel an enemy to do our will”, said by a great Prussian General and military theorist Carl Philip Gottfried Von Clausewitz , who was born on 1st june 1780 in a noble family at Burg in the Prussian Kingdom. His father was a lieutenant in Prussian Army, but Clausewitz was good luck to be a Lanc-Corporal as starting his career at only 12 years old. He served in Prussian army during Nepoleonic war and Russian war and also in French Revolution in 1789. But Clausewitz gradually lost his interest as active combatant rather military specialist.
Ethnicity is comparatively a new term in English. Ethnic identity plays crucial role to understand the tendency of the formation of national identity of a particular group of people. A country can be consisted of different ethnic communities. However, there are several ethnic groups living side by side with Bengalis (the major ethnic group in terms of number) in Bangladesh for many years. There are about 57 ethnic minority groups in Bangladesh. According to the survey of 2011, the country’s ethnic minority population is around 1,586,141 which comprise 1.8% of the total population though they claim they are 3 million.
In recent years, one belt, one road, the South China Sea issue, the US-China trade war, the Wuhan lab leak conspiracy, the Taiwan issue, etc., have been the bones of contention between the two major powers of the world, the United States and China. After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the United States emerged as the sole hegemon—a leading power in the international system—but the country is now encountering difficulties in managing its position of leadership.
The concept of diplomacy is crucial to understanding international relations. It consists of the techniques and procedures for conducting relations among states. Certainly, diplomacy remains the only normal means for conducting international relations and the opposite is war. Strategic history is the history that helps us to understand concerning the full and proper meaning of the concept of strategy. It is the history of the influence of the use, and threat of use, of politically motivated force. To know the importance of understanding the contexts of strategic history, I have chosen the liberation war of Bangladesh as a modern war.

As a resident of the coast, 24-year-old Asma Khatun from the Cox’s Bazar region can directly observe the effects of climate change.
